US President Barack Obama will be in India on January 25 to be the chief guest at the country’s Republic Day celebrations the next day.
So, it is natural for him to issue some pro-India statements ahead of his visit. There is, therefore, no need to read too much into Mr Obama’s remarks in an interview to India Today that include:
- safe havens within Pakistan are not acceptable
- those behind the Mumbai terrorist attack must face justice
A simple Google search will show Mr Obama has been saying that for the last several years.
They will all be forgotten soon after he leaves India.
Actions, not words alone, can prove the seriousness of such comments!
