Singapore Founding Father’s Final Journey
It is pouring heavily in Singapore now, but that is no deterrence for people waiting to bid farewell to the country’s Founding Father, Lee Kuan Yew.
The State funeral procession is being telecast and streamed live, with Mr Lee’s body being transported via a gun carriage from the Parliament House to the University Cultural Centre (UCC) at the National University of Singapore.
The procession began at 12.30pm and a Funeral Service will be held at the UCC from 2pm to 5.15pm. It will be attended by several top leaders from all over the world. They include Mr Bill Clinton, Mr Henry Kissinger, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, South Korean President Park Guen-Hye, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and China Vice-President Li Yuanchao.

The funeral service will be followed by a private cremation at the Mandai Crematorium.
In India and New Zealand, the National Flags are being flown at half-mast to mark the State Funeral of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister. Australia and New Zealand had condolence sessions in their respective Parliaments a few days ago.
In India, the state of Andhra had a condolence meeting in the Legislative Assembly. Singapore is helping build a new capital city for Andhra.
