Yoga Day Overkill in India and on its News Channels

Yoga Gimmick with Pots of Fire on Head as Sushma Escapes Lalit Modi Heat by “Fleeing” to NY

Indian English TV news channels hardly had anything else to show today other than Yoga Day events throughout the country, with some snippets from around the world as well. All day long!

I didn’t realize yoga, embraced by people globally with religion least on their thoughts, also had some gimmicks up its sleeve until I watched a few people in a trance even with pots of fire on their heads as seen on NDTV today.

In Singapore, The Straits Times reports that about 5000 people participated in yoga activities today but I was nowhere near any of them.

Overseas Trips for Ministers: The Yoga Day even gave Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj an escape from the heat arising out of her scandalous liaisons with Indian fugitive Lalit Modi. She is now in New York, leading the Yoga Day celebrations at the United Nations.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will commemorate the day in San Francisco while Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh is in London to do likewise.

Mr Lalit Modi, incidentally, has close friendships with not just Sushma and the BJP Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, but also with his namesake, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the British royal family (Prince Andrew and Prince Charles).

He is wanted in India for IPL-related frauds and money laundering but has been enjoying the hospitality of Britain for the last six years. The U.K. is a haven for filthy rich fraudsters from around the world and, if reports are to be believed, Lalit Modi is set to get British citizenship soon.

Yoga Day this year coincides with Father’s Day being observed today. Father’s Day is observed annually on the third Sunday in June, so it will vary from year to year.
