Have a Sparkling Deepavali, Filled with Fun and Joy!

Rain or Shine, there is nothing that can dampen the Festival of Lights!

The Rain Gods perhaps love Deepavali as the skies have been unfailingly opening up year after year, whether the festival falls in October or November.

You can blame it on the science of meteorology as this is a time when the Northeast monsoon sets in, a season when Tamil Nadu receives almost 50% of its annual rainfall.

Rain is hardly a dampener in Chennai, a city always in the grip of terrible heat and humidity.

The rains in Tamil Nadu may have helped keep the bursting of crackers under check, bringing some cheer for environmentalists in the country who have been advocating a safe, pollution-free Deepavali.

Here’s wishing my friends a sparkling Deepavali. May there be more shine, joy and fun than ever before!
