I don’t like the idea of looking a free horse in the mouth, pardon me for the cliché.
But I cannot help wondering how a $500 credit for Singaporeans aged 25 and above can prepare them for the future.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam is not someone who dabbles in marketing diatribe. I found it disappointing to hear him say that “SkillsFuture empowers all of us to go further. And to renew ourselves as we go through life.”
It is not unreasonable to expect a man of his erudition to make realistic pronouncements in a country where learning is way too expensive to find cheer in a $500-credit.
