Singapore’s Smart Nation Vision and Poor WiFi at Changi

I had tweeted about poor WiFi service while waiting to board a flight to San Francisco on January 16.

Changi airport was quick to acknowledge it with a hint of follow-up.

Yesterday (Sunday), on my return around 2am, I had the same experience with weak WiFi connectivity. I found the service smooth in San Francisco and Seoul. But Singapore was a disappointment.

And Singapore nurtures ambitions about becoming the world’s first Smart Nation! The country needs to get the basics right before dreaming big and entertaining lofty plans.

But when it comes to marketing itself, Singapore is second to none.

Just on Sunday (Jan. 24), there were reports in the media about plans by Singapore Airlines to boost Internet connections in the air.

This when their service standards are taking a dip!
