Anand Beats Karjakin, Shares Lead in Candidates Tournament

Cricket-Obsessed Indian News Apps Miss this Again

The 2016 Candidates tournament now under way in Moscow to pick the player to challenge World Champion Magnus Carlsen saw another change in the leaders’ table yesterday.

India’s former World Champion Viswanathan Anand won against leader Sergey Karjakin in Round 11 to share lead with Fabiana Caruana,

Indian news apps again miss this yet again, they cannot think beyond cricket. The Times of India has been the only one to cover the event but they are generally late in posting results.

Italian-American Caruana, who had humbled Anand in Round 10, settled for a draw with Topalov, thus missing the chance to be the sole leader.

With just three rounds remaining, the going is certain to be tough with Karjakin, who has consistently remained in the lead prior to this defeat, just half a point behind.

I am keeping fingers crossed on whether Anand will again earn the right to challenge Carlsen for the world crown.
