This CNN report begins with something funny: that two of the world’s most powerful men have had a telephonic conversation in which US President-elect Donald Trump is reported to have said that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was like a big buddy to him.
Sharif gushing about it is yesterday’s news. What’s new today is that CNN updated the introductory sentence, calling Trump and Sharif two of the world’s most powerful men.
How did you jump to that conclusion, Mr CNN? One of them is the man the American media had consistently reviled as a bumbling, womanising idiot. The other presides over a terror regime after being in forced exile overseas for a few years.
CNN can be partially excused for the report as 2017 will see Trump ascend to the world’s most powerful position. But how did Sharif qualify for that goofy honour, heading a failed country that India has been clamouring to be declared a terror state, rightly so!
