Indian Idiocy is Spreading offshore!

The real vegans, to me, are those who have turned to the culture based on principles, not on religious grounds.

At least, the Bank of England shows a readiness to remove the substance (beef tallow) from the supply chain.

British vegetarians are leading the protests against the new polymer five-pound note found to contain traces of tallow. More than 120,000 people have signed an online petition, urging the Bank of England to withdraw the notes.

But it assumed a religious flavour with Hindu groups, who were earlier vocal in their support for Brexit, jumping in on getting wind of it. People from Sikh and Jain faiths also entered the fray.

Reading reports about the protests from British vegetarians also made me understand tallow is commonly used in candles and soaps.

Alarmingly, it is also said to be used in a range of cosmetics – lipsticks, foundations and eye makeup, as this report shows.

Vegans in the West a More Committed Lot

That said, vegans in the West are more committed to what they stand for than Indians since they are influenced by self-induced principles, not politics, birth or practice. To them, even dairy products are unacceptable.

Vegetarianism is something I have tried to embrace in the past, having stayed away from meat for a few years. But I started taking non-vegetarian food later and I still hope someday I will be able to give it up again for good.

The real vegans, to me, are those who have turned to the culture based on principles, not on religious grounds.
