People of Tamil Nadu have Final Glimpse of Jayalalitha

Something Singaporeans Missed When Paying Their Homage to Lee Kuan Yew in 2015

The people of Tamil Nadu have the opportunity for one final glimpse of Jayalalitha as her mortal remains lie in state at the Rajaji Hall in Chennai today.

Images seen on TV show the casket having been lifted for people to see their leader one last time as she prepares for her final journey.

It is all about the emotional bond people have with people, whether they are leaders or those in the family.

Lee Kuan Yew: Closed Casket and No Glimpse

In contrast, the people who queued up for hours to pay homage to Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew only got to see the casket sealed tight.

All final glimpses were confined to just his family members before his body was brought to Parliament. I was among those who queued up for five hours to take a look at just the casket.

Jayalalitha, chief minister of Tamil Nadu, passed away last night after being in hospital for nearly three months.
