One interesting fallout of the demonetisation blunder is that it has exposed how intellectually impoverished the Indian Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is.
Even Modi sympathisers like Meghnad Desai have begun to feel embarrassed by the note ban disaster.
As an escape, though, he cunningly put the blame on the inefficiency of the Indian bureaucracy. His logic was that it is the Government’s job is to announce policies. It is the responsibility of bureaucrats to implement them.
In other words, the Government has the authority to come up with absurd decisions and bureaucrats will have to find ways to ensure their success!
Long Live Indian Democracy!
