The dawn of two New Years in January appears special indeed. So it is with January 2017.
Today marked a January start to the Lunar New Year that we celebrated with our neighbours at their home – as we have been doing the last several years.
Lunch started with the Yusheng Prosperity Toss, and that was followed by a spread of food fit for the occasion.
We were the only non-Chinese at the lunch and, thoughtfully, they had catered for some rich Indian food as well. It included chicken dum biriyani and chicken curry. A girl in the family had married a North Indian last year.
The occasion also saw a big fruity hazelnut cake being cut and candles being blow to celebrate the 60th birthday of the eldest son in the family.
It was a happy start to the Year of the Fire Rooster.
