With Indian PM Narendra Modi, the West will have no such trouble. Only Indians will have to pay the price for placing their faith in faith-based politics.
The unscrupulous capitalist world will reap the gains of the lavish praise the likes of Bill Gates, John Chambers and Elon Musk periodically heap on PM Modi.
Why will they care if China has grabbed thousands of miles of Indian territory or if democracy has been ripped apart or if the country’s economy has been taken to the cleaners!
All they need is India’s vast markets, particularly because they have issues with China. And wasn’t the West behind China’s exponential growth in the first place?
There are signs of a thaw between the West and China, with German, French and other European leaders visiting Beijing for restoring ties. Once that relationship is back on track, India will become a hot potato!
India’s minorities and opposition leaders are also to blame for making it easy for the BJP. The minorities, for instance, will practise religious bigotry while singing the glory of secularism. And then terrorism in countries such as Australia will continue to give a fillip to the BJP.
There are too many criminal contesting the upcoming elections across all parties, both ruling and from the opposition dispensation.
Whoever wins, is there hope there will be meaningful change in the country’s governance? It is for India and its electorate to decide!
